Choosing the right storage facility

1) Shop around: You should begin by searching the internet to find 4 or 5 various self storage facilities in your area. Sometimes the amount charged by different storage operators for exactly the same space can vary significantly. In difficult times, it is also important to find out if they have any discount programs or online coupons. Make sure to ask about any additional move in costs besides the first months rent. Typically there might be an Administrative Fee on Move-In. Self storage prices also vary by area so if you live an expensive area, self storage prices will tend to be higher than less expensive areas, find one of these locations to save even more money!
2) Visit some: visit 3 or 4 self storage properties, inspect the units, their features, listen to their sales pitch and then tell them you are still shopping around. Many times the person renting the storage unit may not offer their “best deal” until it becomes obvious that you are leaving. If they make you a last offer, just remember that offer will probably be there later if you can’t find a better deal. Now most people don’t have the time or the inclination to do these things, but if you are intending to use a self storage unit for an extended period of time the savings can really add up!
3) Make the choice: make a list of the three most important qualities you need in a storage unit and score them accordingly. The best one for you might not be the cheapest or the least expensive the first month. If I was scoring the 3 qualities in choosing the best self storage property in order are: price, security & convenience but yours may be different. These 3 steps will help you choose the right self storage facility for your storage needs.
